On Tuesday, Jan. 25, the swim team won against Norfolk in their last home meet of the season. A portion of the first break was used to honor the seniors who will be leaving the team when they graduate. Seniors did a tunnel walk through and accepted roses from their coach, Mrs. Tiffany Hale. At the end of the meet, seniors competed against their parents in a student and parent relay.
“When I was standing behind in the tunnel, that was the first time it actually hit me that I was a senior,” senior Harrison Frye said. “That was rough.”
Our seniors have had many memorable moments over the course of their high school career. The senior’s sophomore year, 2021- 22, was the first time since 1994 that any school in Nebraska has won both girls and boys state events.
“This group of athletes have demonstrated perseverance and flexibility beyond what anyone could have imagined,” Hale said. “I wish each and every one of them the best in their future endeavors.”
As the seniors spread their wings to other opportunities, they leave advice for new Silver Hawks joining in the future.
“Stay positive, have fun, but still work hard,” senior Chloe Hale said. “Support your team, you’ll be with them for the next four years and they will become family.”
