Key Club meets every other Tuesday after school in room C109. Key Club is an all-inclusive, student-led service club that allows students to make a difference in their school, community and the lives of others by giving them opportunities to volunteer in many ways within the community. Some of the ways the club has volunteered in the past include pet supply drives, color runs and elementary school events.
“My favorite volunteering event from last year was helping at the Adams Elementary book fair,” junior Ben Campbell said. “It was really cool because I remember going to the book fair when I was little, so it was fun to be on the other side of it.”
In addition to helping the communities around them, students can meet many like-minded people and form meaningful connections with those around them. While this club’s main focus is volunteering, nobody is required to have any prior volunteer experience and are not required to be at every volunteer event that the club hosts.
“I joined because it’s a place where you can find people and connect with them while also helping out your community at the same time,” senior Bella Xu said. “We haven’t really done much so far since it’s a new club, but learning about people and helping others in my community has been so rewarding for me.”
Key Club first began in the 2024-2025 school year and is constantly looking for new members. There is no specific criteria to join, just be willing to help out and volunteer in the community. If someone would like to join or has any questions they can contact Ms. LaMaster via her email, [email protected], or they can visit room C109.
“The most important lesson I’ve learned from Key Club is that no matter how small of a difference you make, you are still making a difference in people’s lives,” junior Danielle Ibe-Ikechi said. “ Even if it’s as simple as giving someone lunch money, making a difference is still always going to be making a difference no matter how small it may be.”
