From Monday, Jan. 1 to Wednesday, Jan. 31, Lincoln Southwest Student Council (StuCo) is hosting the Winter Item Drive to donate winter clothing like coats, gloves, scarfs and hats. Southwest students can donate by dropping winter clothing off in the bins in the front of LSW.
“I donated because I thought it would be better for someone else to have my clothes,” freshman Mariam Baker said. “It’s a good way to give back to our community and help other people stay warm during the winter.”
This drive is in partnership with Lincoln High School StuCo, to donate to the People’s City Mission. People’s City Mission is an organization that has a goal of trying to meet basic human needs for people who need it.
“We chose People’s City Mission because of the research that we have conducted. They just seemed like the best organization to best help the people in Lincoln,” freshman Aiden Schrader said. “I think this drive is beneficial to the school because it allows students to participate in better helping their community.”
The items collected will be donated in early February.
