Monday Dec. 2 was the start of Student Council’s (StuCo) annual Winter Week at Lincoln Southwest. Each day, there was a different theme for individuals to dress up for. Monday, Dec. 2, was White Out, Tuesday, Dec. 3, was Red versus Green, Wednesday, Dec. 4, was Holiday Hats, Thursday, Dec. 5, was Blue Out, Friday, Dec. 6, was Pajama Day.
“The purpose of Winter Week is to have something fun because we don’t have any other Spirit Weeks around this time,” junior Chloe Wiens said. “We have a Winter Week committee in StuCo and they choose all of the themes.”
Other spirit weeks that Student Council has held are Prom Spirit Week in, Wish Week , Fall Spirit Week, and Homecoming Spirit Week.
“My favorite theme was Pajama Day because I like being comfy at school and getting to wear my pajamas,” junior Kimmy Harris said. “My favorite theme from last year was Santa versus Grinch because I liked seeing all the costumes that people use to dress up.”
The themes were hung around the school on posters for students and staff to see. There were also big posters hung at the entrance to the academic wing.
“My favorite theme from last year was to wear blue and white because most people own something that is white,” Wiens said. “I want Christmas socks to be a theme next year for one of the days because a lot of people have Christmas socks and it is a fun theme.”
