The #2 seed Hawks varsity volleyball team will compete against the #7 seed Pius X Thunderbolts in the first round of the state tournament on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 5:00 p.m. at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Tickets will be $7 for students and $10 for adults and can only be purchased online at gofan. A win against Pius X would advance the Hawks to the semi-finals.
“It’s a lot of different emotions (for me), it’s such a big game. We have a lot better mojo and trust and we all believe in each other,” senior Malayah Long said. “Just knowing that all the work I have done beforehand that has got me here, trusting my training, trusting my teammates helps me stay composed.”
The Hawks finished the regular season with a 30-4 record which landed them with the second best record in Class A behind Papillion La Vista South.
“I feel like we’ve had a lot of growth and got into some holes but we’ve built out of them even stronger,” senior Reese Boyd said. “It’s really fun to be a part of state and embrace everything and the crowd, so I’m really excited.”
If the Hawks advance to the semi-finals, they will play the winner of the Lincoln East versus Bellevue West game. The semi-finals will be on Friday, Nov. 3, at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
