Get in the Spirit for Spirit Week

Monday Sept. 23 marks the start of Spirit Week at Lincoln Southwest. Every day of the week students will have the option to dress up with different themes.

Spirit Week occurs every year during the week of Homecoming. Everyday has a different theme. This year the themes are ‘Merica Monday which (USA theme),  Groovy Tuesday (tie dye or 60s-70s clothing), Wish I Was Sleeping Wednesday (pajamas), Jersey Thursday (any team jersey). Fire up Friday (school spirit).

Students have a good time dressing up. Especially if it’s a theme they’re excited for.

“I enjoy dressing up for the themes for the most part,” sophomore Presley Pritchett Peterson said. “I’m excited for jersey day I’ll just take one of my brother’s jerseys and it’ll be fun.”

Others feel differently though. Some students feel as though the themes are repetitive every year and can be boring.

“I feel that some days are fine but other days can be boring,” junior Sidney Richards said. “We do the same themes every year and not enough people dress up to make it fun.”

To close out Spirit Week on Friday Sept. 27 at 4:30 p.m. the Varsity Football will play their Homecoming game against North Platte at Seacrest. After that the Homecoming dance will be held at Lincoln Southwest High School at 8:00 p.m.
