Lincoln Southwest Student Council (StuCo) is hosting their first Culture Fair Wednesday, March 20, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. The Culture Fair will be run by seniors Kai Sasaki and Julia Hyten, juniors Tatum Thorell, Jada Frank and Kaylie Phillips and sophomore Lillian Hong.
“It’s important for us to be able to learn about different cultures, not only at Southwest, but also in our community,” vice president Frank said. “It’ll be a really fun opportunity for both people attending and the people who have booths.”
Students attending the event will receive a passport that they can get stamped from their visited booths to represent all of the new cultures they have learned about. The culture fair will also be accompanied by the Lincoln High School’s mariachi band. All Lincoln Public School students are invited to LSW’s culture fair.
“I’m really excited for the event since it is the Student Council’s first ever culture fair, and we do plan to make this a yearly thing,” communications director Phillips said. “There are many different cultures in Lincoln, so we are inviting organizations, elementary schools, middle schools and other high school students to join us.”
Students can sign up for a booth by contacting any members of StuCo’s executive team or by emailing [email protected]. StuCo’s executive team consists of senior Kyzz Azucena and juniors Kasch Faustman, Jada Frank, Tatum Thorell, Jack McCormick and Kaylie Phillips. There is no fee for attending the culture fair and all are welcome.
