On Friday, Aug. 30, the varsity football team will play their first game of the season against Lincoln North Star (LNS) at Seacrest Field. Students should sit in the home side student section.
“I’m looking forward to playing with my friends for one final year and I think that we can have a pretty good season,” senior tight end Jackson Crawford said. “North Star is a good team to test how good we are. We can’t back down from it but I feel pretty confident going into the game.”
During their practices they have group specific drills and they also have weightlifting. The week of their first game they had to move practices to the morning because of the heat.
“Our practices have been a lot of weightlifting and now morning practices but everyone is still working hard,” senior wide receiver Nick Reiling said. “We still have some kinks we need to work out, but we’re going to be ready by Friday.”
The last time that both teams played each other was Friday, Oct. 23, 2020. LSW won 27-21.
The student section plays a big part in the game. This year’s student section is ran by senior Brandon Clark and the theme for the first game is neon so students should wear bright colors.
“The team is motivated by the support of the student body so it means a lot to us when they show out,” Crawford said. “Students should be loud and very vocal so we can hear them on the field.”
Students should park on the home side of Seacrest field and bring their student ID’s as well as bring $5 if they don’t have the athletic pass on their ID. The ID’s that were given at the start of the year do not have the athletic pass on them but it is planned for students to get their updated ID on Friday, Aug. 30.
