On Saturday, Feb. 10, at 10 a.m. LSW’s non-audition prep group, Emergence, competed at Lincoln Northwest. After competing in finals, they won first place in prep division, got fourth place overall and also received the People’s Choice award.
“Oh, man. It’s just so fun being around the environment,” freshman Emily Baugh said. “We have been working really hard. We got one score, and then the next competition we got 70 points higher after only practicing for an hour that whole week. I think it shows that we’ve all been really putting in the effort.”
Emergence practices on Mondays from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. and Tuesdays from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. They have attended three competitions through this season, twice in the non-competitive festival division and once in the prep division.
“Winning at Northwest was really special because it was the second year of emergence and was really fun to show other schools that as a non-audition group we are something to look out for,” freshman Keegan Brester said. “(At showcase) I really hope to display our positive energy and make people smile.”
LSW will have a show choir finale on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 6:30 p.m. and all show choirs will perform. It is free admissions but individuals can reserve seating through showtix4u.com.
