On Tuesday, Feb. 6, Lincoln Southwest Student Council (StuCo) are holding their first blood drive of the second semester with the Nebraska Community Blood Bank (NCBB). Individuals have to be 16 years of age or older to sign up to donate. The Blood Drive will be located at the back of the school at door 10. This event is going on throughout the school day.
“I’m donating to the Blood Drive because it’s a really good opportunity to serve the community and do something that won’t hurt me and that can help others,” junior Emma Braswell said. “It’s a good way to learn how you can be selfless and help others without taking much time out of your day.”
There are 43 spots left for people that want to donate their blood to the Blood Drive. People can sign up this week to donate.
“We are currently in a blood emergency right now. And there are so many people who need blood of various types that can’t get it and by donating blood, you could potentially save a life,” sophomore Claire Timperley said. “I hope we can fix the blood shortage problem and I hope we can get enough blood donated to help ease some of the pressure of the blood shortage.”
There will be free snacks to those who donated to the Blood Drive.
