On Monday, Nov. 13, at 8:15 a.m, laminated paper turkeys were handed out to six random staff members at Southwest. The entire staff will be playing a game throughout the week, in hopes to hold one of those turkeys on Friday, Nov. 17, at 3:03 p.m.
In order to get a turkey, staff members must ask each other, “Do you have a turkey in your pocket?” If a staff member has a turkey, they must hand it over when they’re asked. Take-backs are not allowed, and no one can have more than one turkey at a time. Staff must wait one hour after losing their turkey to ask for another. If they leave early or will be gone the next day, they must hand it off to another staff member.
“My strategy is to ask everyone I see,” health technician Mrs. Japhia Warren said. “I ask every staff member and I made it a point to go to the main office first.”
Mrs. Michelle Schnell came up with the turkey game, modeling it after a similar game played in a school in Alliance, Nebraska.
“I think it’s a blast,” Mrs. Michelle Winklepleck said. “I’ve already had the turkey and lost it three times. The game itself is to create fun staff interaction, and it kind of fits because Thanksgiving is this month.”
The staff members with a turkey in their pocket at 3:03 p.m. on Friday will earn a frozen turkey.
