Art and Photography Club meets every week on Wednesdays after school in room C106. The club allows students to explore different types of art. Some include drawing, photography, painting, digital art and pottery.
“It is a really fun and open environment for students to socialize and connect with each other,” Ms. Erin Hoaglin said. “It’s an open studio type where students have access to materials for free and hang out with like-minded students.”
Students don’t need to have any prior experience in art or be enrolled into an art class to join. The main focus of this club is to provide students with a place to be creative and talk to people with similar interests to themselves.
“Students don’t even really have to make art while they’re there,” Hoaglin said. “If they want to socialize and meet people, that’s okay too.”
Students will also be given the opportunity to talk with the art teachers around the school for additional help. Students can gain experience and develop new skills through the hands-on projects that the club provides.
“Students can get extra help from the teachers if they would like too,” Hoaglin said. “This gives students more time to explore their interests where they may not always be able to.”
When people try new things, new passions can form. This club allows for students to experiment and try new forms of art to find their individual passions.
“I think art influences everything,” senior Ainsley LaHolt said. “At its core, art is creativity in itself, and creativity dictates everything.”
