The week of April 22 – 25 are when auditions for the 2024-25 color guard took place. Practice auditions took place April 22-24 in the practice gym everyday after school from 3:15 p.m.-5 p.m. The real audition is going to take place on April 25.
Color Guard involves dancing techniques while spinning a flag. Color guard performs at football games and competes with the marching band at contests in and out of state.
“Auditions are not just about impressing others, but also about building relationships with other teammates,” color guard senior captain Eden Wilder said. “It is about making sure people are willing to put the timing and effort into Color Guard.”
Students that auditioned for color guard learned general flag techniques and a short routine for the day of auditions.
“Color guard is the visual part of marching band and it helps create the atmosphere for what our show is,” band director Mrs. Alyssa Wilhelm said. “Having a really good color guard that is strong is what helps make the band better.”
Anybody in grades 9-12 during the 2024-25 school year are able to audition. No experience is required.
