On Monday, Oct. 2, the Clash of Classes start. All four grades will compete in different competitions to earn points. The winning class doesn’t have to wait in line when entering the Homecoming dance.
“Students will get to skip the line and get into the school without having to wait outside,” Principal John Matzen said. “Last year the line was pretty ridiculous, so I think that students would want to skip that line.”
Students can earn points by attending the volleyball game, winning the dodgeball game at the pep rally and decorating the forums.
“We’re trying to think of fun and creative ways for the classes to come together as a class to do something,” Instructional Coordinator Dr. Travis Brady said. “We tried coming up with events that go with the theme.”
The first way to win points is at the volleyball game on Monday, Oct. 2, students can show up and scan their IDs, and the point will go to the class that has the most students in attendance.
Students can also win points at the dodgeball game during the pep rally. The dodgeball game will start with seniors against juniors. The second game will be the sophomores against freshmen. The winners of each game will play and the overall winning class will get the point. The winning class of all four classes will get to play against the staff.
The final place that students can earn points is through the forum decorations. Each grade was assigned a forum that they got to decorate. The freshmen have the A100 forum, sophomores have the A200 forum, juniors get the B200 forum and the seniors have the B100 forum. On the morning of Wednesday Oct. 3, the decorations will be judged by a panel of judges. Once they all vote, the total will be counted and the winner for the forum decorations will be announced in the morning announcements.
The first grade to get two points will win. If there is a three-way tie, then the tie breaker will be the percent of each class that buys tickets to the fall play “Peter and the Star Catcher”. The winning class will be announced on Friday, Oct. 6.
