Books from the Lincoln Southwest library are due Friday, May 10. Students can return their books in the drop off box at the front of the library or at the librarian’s desk when AP testing isn’t happening.
If a book is lost or damaged, then the student will receive a fee according to how much the book costs. Fees can either be paid on StudentVUE, in person at the library or by giving the librarian a new copy of the same book. Students will not receive any fees for returning a book late.
“If someone were to lose a book, they can come in and pay the fine for what the book was worth or they can go to Barnes and Noble and buy that book then bring it to us,” librarian Michelle Schnell said. “We’ve had many people who have done that before. Sometimes you can buy the book off of Amazon for way cheaper than what our school had to pay for.”
Students can view a list of books they need to return on Destiny Discover. To access the website, Destiny Discover must be opened through the LPS Portal. Students have to log in at the top right corner with their student ID and password. Their checkouts, history, holds, favorites and fines can be found in the drop-down menu of My Stuff.
Even though the LSW library will be closed during the summer, students can still read books for free. Lincoln City Libraries offers a OneCard to all Lincoln Public School students. Students will only need to bring their Student ID while checking out a book at a Lincoln City Library.
