The LSW bowling team competed against bowlers from all around the state this season and finished with 18 wins and six losses. They won the LPS City Championship but did not qualify for State as a team.
“We were the best team in the city of Lincoln but unfortunately we fell into a really tough district,” Mr. Mark Hickson said. “We did not get a wildcard and missed state by two spots, not the way I wanted things to go but I am looking forward to rebuilding next year.”
Junior Alex Starks and sophomore Carly Hendrickson competed against the top bowlers at NSAA State bowling championships held at Sun Valley Lanes on Friday, Feb. 14.
“I practiced really hard and I tried my best,” Hendrickson said. “The environment was very fun and welcoming, it really helped me do good.”
Hendrickson finished 13th as well with a score of 513 in the girls division. She was the only Southwest girl to make it to state this year.
Despite starting his bowling career three years ago, Starks has proved himself as one of the best male bowlers in the state by placing 13th.
“I had no previous bowling experience before high school,” Starks said. “I joined the bowling team for fun and to make new friends at school.”
Sophomore Hedrickson has proved herself early in her career and will be returning to bowl next year. Starks is a junior and with one year of bowling he is looking to make it the best season yet.
