With the end of second semester just around the corner and students finalizing their schedule for the next term, one consideration for students is to become a teacher’s assistant (TA). For students to become a TA they must have space in their schedule. If a student has an off block or if they finish an E-learning class early then they are eligible.
“The first step to becoming a TA is making sure that you have a teacher in mind that is okay and has a spot for you to be a TA,” school counselor Ms. London Bercey said. “The next step is to get a form from your counselor that will have a spot for your parents, your teacher and your counselor to sign. If everything works out schedule wise and the teacher is okay with you being a TA, then everything is all set.”
Students get to choose the teacher that they wish to become a TA for, their choice can be based on a subject they have an interest in or if they enjoy the teacher’s company.
“It was really fun,” senior Jade Shannon said. “I got to help around the music department. I also really like music and I’m a big singer, so that helped me decide who I was going to become a TA for.”
The deadline to fill out the form to become a TA for term three is Monday, Jan. 8.
