The Lincoln Southwest High School pool air ventilation system is currently being completely replaced to better circulate the flow of chlorine around the pool and out of the building.

The old air handler system at Lincoln Southwest had to be replaced due to inefficiency of circulating and removing chlorine molecules in the air. The new system will be able to circulate the airflow in the pool much better and ensure a safe, smooth environment.

“With the brand new motor and blower and everything, it’s going to really circulate that air around.” Mark Armstrong, the athletic director at Southwest, said.

In regards to when the system will be complete and the pool will be ready for use, the team working on the project is shooting for September 1st.

“They actually closed and started draining the pool as soon as school was out this summer. All of the duct work that moves the air throughout the pool all had to be redone and with new vents and stuff put in.” Armstrong said.

Although the team had to send back some damaged blower blades, the remodeling is still expected to be finished on time.
