On Tuesday, Jan. 9, Lincoln Southwest was scheduled to hold Future Hawk Night where current eighth graders come to visit and learn about LSW. Due to weather complications and district closure, it got moved to Thursday, Jan. 18, at 6:30 p.m.
“When families arrive they first will enter and head down to the gym and the pep band will be playing,” Ms. Donna Ramsey, associate principal secretary said. “They will then see a performance by Emeralds and the varsity cheer team. Following the performance, there will be a little mini program with Principal Matzen addressing the crowd.”
After Mr. Matzen’s speech, the incoming families will be able to explore the building and see the different departments and some of the clubs offered at LSW. This year, the clubs and activities are spread out around the building. Last year all of the clubs and activities were in the commons.
“We are going to have a stand like all the other clubs, but we are thinking of something that will set us apart from the others,” DECA club member junior Leo Napolitano said. “We are wanting to have someone dressed as the Monopoly Man.”
Students will get a feel for how LSW works, while exploring the school to find the different clubs and departments.
