The 2023 Nebraska All-State Ensemble sign-up window opened on Monday, Aug. 14 and will close on Monday, Sept. 11. Every student in the varsity concert choir at Southwest is required to audition for the All-State Chorus.
“We encourage our students to audition for All-State because it gives them an extra opportunity to learn challenging music and to explore different opportunities to sing with others around the state,” Dr. Marci DeAmbrose said. “All-State also gives our students a chance to work with other directors and other music educators to give them a more well-rounded choral music experience.”
Auditioning for an All-State Ensemble can be a valuable experience for many students.
“Students can just put themselves out there more,” varsity concert choir member senior Kate Roesch said. “And if you make it, it’s a big community with a lot of different people you can share your gifts and talents with. Even if you don’t make it, you can get valuable feedback.”
Along with chorus, Nebraska All-State features orchestra, band and jazz band ensembles that high school students across the state are encouraged to audition for.
The actual auditions will begin on Sept. 13 with the instrumental auditions. The choral audition window will open on Sept. 21. Both windows will end on Sept. 23. Audition results will be posted on Oct. 16 at 8 a.m.
