Summer school enrollment is currently available to all Lincoln Public School students until Friday, May 3. To apply, students have to fill out the 2024 LSW High School Summer Enrollment Form. Late registration applications will only be accepted Wednesday, May 29, – Friday, May 31, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Students can request to attend summer school at Lincoln North Star or Lincoln High. Summer school is from Thursday, May 30, to Wednesday, July 3, with the exception of Wednesday, June 19 for Juneteenth.
“Students should consider summer school for a multitude of reasons. It’s a great fit for students who want to get ahead of classes, students that are credit deficient, students that find smaller environments as such to be more relaxing and a better fit for themselves,” counselor Amanda Tomes said. “We recommend that students apply prior to May 3, but we know that situations can arise. Late registrations can allow seniors to retake any required classes they had failed during the school year without having to come back next year. Summer school is a great opportunity for students at Southwest.”
Summer school is split into two periods. Period one is from 8 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Period two is from 10:45 a.m.-1:15 p.m. Students are not permitted to leave the building during the 15-minute break.
Attendance is crucial to attending summer school. Students who miss three consecutive days or five days over the time period will be dropped from their classes. Illnesses and absences due to late registration will count toward the allowed absences. Students who are absent on the first day will be dropped from their classes if they do not contact the summer school office prior to 12:30 p.m. The Lincoln North Star office can be contacted at (402) 436-1640 and the Lincoln High office at (402) 436-1906.
Summer school offers Algebra, Health, Government and Politics, Take Charge and more. For the rest of the list, visit LPS Summer School 2024.
Fully remote eLearning courses will also be offered for Art Appreciation, Music Appreciation, Health, Reading Skills/Strategies, English Foundation 1 and 2, Information Technology and Application, Media Literacy and Introduction to Business/Marketing/Finance. Students taking only eLearning classes are required to check in with their teachers on a weekly basis. If a student is taking both an eLearning class and an in-person class they are required to attend the eLearning class in person as well. Students will receive a failing grade if the eLearning assignments are not submitted by the end of summer school.
Class schedules will be released on StudentVue and ParentVue at 12 p.m., Wednesday, May 29.
