The last opportunity to drop a quarter one class is on Friday, Sept. 15. Students’ grades will go in as a W (withdrawal) if they drop any class this week. After Friday, all dropped classes will go in as a failed grade. Students will have until the end of the school day to drop a class and they should contact their guidance counselor or visit the counseling center to make any changes.
“Usually, it’s whether something came up or the class is too difficult, they (students) decide to drop it before the end date,” guidance counselor Ms. London Bercey said. “It’s better to have a withdrawal than it is to have that F, but we usually recommend students to drop it before the withdrawal period.”
While a W will appear on a transcript, it has no affect on a student’s GPA. Students unsure about the effects of withdrawing a class can talk to their counselor for an in-depth explanation.
“Five weeks into the term, you should have a good idea of where you stand. For the typical student, I think five weeks is more than enough time,” Mr. Adam Brady said. “Students need to do what is in their best interest.”
