The Lincoln Southwest unified bowling team played their first game against Lincoln Southeast at Parkway Lanes on Monday, Oct. 28. The unified team is comprised of 41 bowlers, and is spearheaded by coaches Brandi Benson and Lis Brenden.
“I had a lot of fun,” freshman Josie Ulrich said. “I ate Nilla Wafers and bowled a lot, and I’m excited [for next week].”
Although the Silver Hawks fought hard, they came up short 3,219 pins to 3,833 pins. The team is not focused on winning, but rather having fun and making friends.
“I think the cool thing about unified bowling is the purpose behind it,” coach Brandi Benson said. “It is intended for people of all abilities to come together over one common bond, and to interact with people they wouldn’t normally on a daily basis.”
Next up for the Hawks is a game against Lincoln East at Parkway Lanes at 3:30 p.m on Monday, Nov. 11.
