On Tuesday, March 29, the Southwest girls varsity soccer team won against Pius X at Pius X High School, 3-2. Apart from this game, the team has won three other games and lost one including an 11-0 win against Grand Island, a 2-1 win against Millard West, a 10-0 win against Lincoln High and 1-0 loss against Omaha Marian.

“The end goal is winning State. I think it (this year) is promising,” junior Claire Kniss said. “We dropped an early match to Marian but they were a great team, and we have a lot to learn from it. I think that it will help us grow in the future.”

Coach Thomas Nettleton also has high hopes.

“Our goals are aligned with what we believe our potential to be. So we have high hopes and with that comes the expectations for what we do,” Nettleton said. “I think that because we have a lot of potential that sets our sights pretty high.”

The team will play Fremont at 5:00 p.m. on April 4 at Seacrest.
