Students look at their yearbook. Those still wishing to collect their yearbooks can do so in Mrs. Brandi Benson’s room, C110.

May 25 is the last day of high school for Southwest students. As the date approaches, there are a few things that need to be done to wrap up the year.

Yearbooks were distributed in the theater hallway after school Monday through Wednesday. Students who were unavailable during the designated distribution times should contact yearbook advisor, Mrs. Brandi Benson. Students who have not yet purchased a yearbook may do so with the bookkeeper until all the books are gone.

“There are less than 30 yearbooks available,” Benson said. “If students would still like to purchase one, they should make sure to get one from the bookkeeper.”

Graduating seniors or students transferring out of the school must return their Chromebooks. This can be done in the media center as soon as students are done with them. Though they don’t need to return their case, they must return a working charger. Only those students leaving the building next year will return their Chromebooks, all other students will hold onto theirs through the summer.

Before returning their chromebooks, however, students must retrieve anything they have on their school account that they want to keep. Students will not have access to their account after they graduate so any documents they have not sent to another account will be lost.

Library books must also be returned by all students by the end of the school year so that the media center staff can get them checked back in.

“We ask that everything be returned by the last day of school,” media center specialist, Mrs. Michelle Winklepleck said. “Students who fail to return either their Chromebook or a library book will have those items marked as lost and will be responsible for paying a Synergy fine.”

The first day of finals will be May 24 for blocks 1 and 2. The second will be May 25 for blocks 3 and 4. The first final of the day begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 10:30 a.m. The second begins at 10:45 a.m. and ends at 12:15 p.m. Students will be released from school immediately following the second final.

Following finals, graduation will take place next  Sunday, May 28.  Graduating students will walk in alphabetical order by last name at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The event will last from 3:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
