The Southwest Emeralds Dance Team is holding two dance clinics. The first clinic is the “In My Future Emeralds Era Kiddie Clinic” for grades pre-K to 5. The second clinic is Dance Team 101 – Middle School Clinic for grades 6 to 8.
“The clinics help kids get to know if they want to be a dancer or a part of Spirit Squad in any way,” Emeralds member senior Emma Ramsey said. “It also helps us fundraise for our Nationals trip.”
Both clinics will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7. The Kiddie Clinic will be held from 1-4:30 p.m. Participants will be divided by grade pairings. Each group will perform a different showcase for spectators in the main gym at 4 p.m.
The Middle School Clinic will be held from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. and is focused more on preparing students for high school dance. This one is not divided by grade and will not have a showcase at the end.
“I did both clinics when I was younger,” Emeralds member freshman Ava Funcke said. “They were helpful, especially the middle school ones. I learned what I was going to do in auditions, what I needed to work on and what to fix before the actual audition.”
The cost for both clinics is $30 per dancer. The registration period will end when all the slots are filled. Anyone interested can register for the clinic here. Anyone with further questions can email dance coach Lindsey Hinze at LHINZE@LPS.ORG.
There will be another set of clinics hosted in the second semester.
