Varsity softball played a double header against Lincoln North Star on Tuesday, Sep. 10. North Star won the first game 10-2, and LSW won the second game 14-4.

While they lost the first game, the girls came together in the second and fought for the win.

“I think we responded really well,” senior Abby Squier said. “I think we were all just super ready to move on and start a new part of our season where we fight for each other and never let up.”

Head Coach Mark Watt believes they succeeded in the second game when they allowed themselves to have lower expectations.

“I would say our strongest area would be hitting,” coach Mark Watt said. “We set a bunch of state team records in the last couple of years. I think we discovered that we’ve been putting too much pressure on ourselves and having high expectations.”

Varsity softball’s teamwork allowed them to collaborate and sweep the game.

“I feel like we have team camaraderie,” junior Emma Hain said. “We’ve all gotten to know each other and enjoy being with each other on and off the field.”

The Hawks play a double header against Lincoln Southeast on Monday, Sep. 16 6:30 p.m at Doris Bair Softball Complex-Field K.
