Setting the Scene in Norfolk

The JV, reserve and freshman volleyball teams start their seasons next week.  All three teams will play on Thursday, Aug. 29 at Norfolk High School.

The JV team plays at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Last year, team chemistry helped contribute to the team taking runner-up at the City Tournament. Sophomore Karli Symonsbergen hopes for the team to reach that level of communication again.

“This year, certain people have connections [on the team] but we’re all still learning how to play together.” Symonsbergen said. “It should smooth out as the season goes on.”

Also on Thursday at 5:30 p.m., the freshman team kick off their season. Last year, the team ended the year as City Runner-Up. Though the team is made entirely of new players, they’re getting to know each other just fine.

“I’m more excited than nervous,” freshman Berkeley Bales said. “[The team chemistry] is really good, and it’ll work better as the year goes on, I’m excited for all the games.”

The reserve team will play at 6:30 p.m. They claimed the City Championship last year in the 2018-2019 season.
