Teachers and Students Prepare for Honors Convocation

Students who make honor roll must have at least a weighted grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 and up The event typically lasts one hour. Honors convocation will be held at 8:15 a.m. on Sept 22, 2021. The names of students who are receiving this award will be read by NHS members and remarks will be made by principal  Mr. John Matzen.

 

All of the awards that are going to be given out are for an academic letter, for students who must maintain a weighted 4.00-grade point average (GPA) for 4 terms (2 semesters). The academic pin will be earned by meeting the academic letter criteria and perfect attendance with no absences or tardies during terms 1 and  2. The honor roll with distinction is received by having a semester weighted GPA of 3.750 to 3.999 on a 4.0 weighted scale. Honor roll with high distinction is for students with a semester weighted GPA of 4.000 to 4.249 on a 4.0 weighted scale. And the highest is honor roll with the highest distinction with a semester weighted GPA of 4.250 and above on the 4.0 weighted scale. 

 

“There are 686 students being recognized,”  Ms. Ashley Turner said This event is meant to show the academic performance of students and to honor them for their impressive dedication and effort towards school.

 

“Work really hard, it’s worth it in the end.” senior Ellie Henkel said.” “The honor roll is a great goal to work towards and will help you out in the long run.”

 

Students and families are invited via mail to the event so they will know what award they are receiving and other helpful knowledge such as when the event is and where it is.
