On Friday, April 8, senior Jaida Rowe broke the school record for 100m high hurdles with a time of 14.28 seconds at the Kearney Invitational. She competed in the finals alongside eight other females.

The previous school record was set by Caelyn Christiancy in 2018 with a time of 14.29 seconds. Rowe is now 4th in the state of Nebraska for the 100m high hurdles.

“I set my personal record on Friday,” Rowe said. “I think for the team, the rest of the season is looking really good. When the weekly rankings come out, we are always on top, and we have a lot of our girls in the top spots for the Class A ranking. I think we are a really strong contender to win this year’s State Championship.”

Rowe’s record also aided in the Hawks winning the Invite.

“I got top three in all my events,” senior Jaida Rowe said. “It really helped to pick up some points to lead us to win the team title at the invite.”

The varsity track team will continue their season this Friday, April 15, at the Fremont High Invitational.
