The Lincoln Southwest show choirs competed at the Norris Fields of Talent Competition at Norris High School on Saturday, Feb. 28. Ambience was Grand Champion in the prep division and was fifth runner up in finals, and Resonance was the runner up behind Lincoln East Express and won Best Vocals.

For the second time since the Midwest Cup earlier in the season, both Resonance and Ambience earned a spot in the finals. Ambience’s sophomore Jackson Keele won best male soloist and Resonance’s senior Kinya Kairigi won best female soloist.

“It feels really amazing to win best female soloist especially when I thought that I wasn’t going to get any solo or performer awards this season,” senior Kinya Kairigi said. “It is like deja vu back to my sophomore year on Ambience when I won at the last competition of the season.”

With their win at Norris, Ambience is undefeated in the prep category for the 2022 season for the first time in the group’s history.

“I am so proud of the group,” sophomore Jackson Keele said. “We owe the success to the wonderful directors and I hope we can do the same next year.”

The groups will perform a spring show next term.
