Lincoln Southwest guidance counselors will be hosting the Senior Family Meeting for Lincoln Southwest students and their families taking place at LSW on Aug. 21, 2019 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

“The meeting will provide an opportunity to learn about opportunities for seniors to take advantage of in order to be prepared for college,” counselor Tim Ernst said. “It is important [students and their families] get this info so they don’t get behind.”

The meeting will consist of two different sessions. The first session from lasting from 6:35 p.m. to 7:10 p.m. will be a presentation from Education Quest to provide information on the FAFSA form in the auditorium that all students with their families will attend. They will talk about everything associated with completing the FAFSA from students getting their user ID to actually filling out the FAFSA form.

After the first session, from 7:10 p.m. to 7:30p.m., there will be two concurrent breakout sessions that the students and their families will choose to go to. One session will be presented by Mr. Ernst in the auditorium with a senior year overview. The other session will be lead by Mr. Peterson in the commons about scholarship opportunities.

“[The scholarship session] basically reminds kids of the scholarship quest that they did in Take Charge last year,” Ernst said. “[Mr. Peterson] will also talk about the letters of recommendation, essays, and everything associated with scholarship searches.”

If a senior or his or her family would miss the meeting, have questions, or want more information about senior year go to https://wp.lps.org/lswcounseling/ where the powerpoints used at the meeting will be posted by Fri. August 23.
