Lincoln Southwest  plays Lincoln Southeast on Friday, Sept. 30, at 8:00 p.m. The game is at Seacrest Field. Southwest is 4-1 in the 2022 season coming off a win against Omaha Bryan, 56-0, which was the Homecoming game. Last year, for the Southwest versus Southeast rivalry, Southeast won 28-21.

“I think there is a lot of animosity to the rivalry this year. We both want to win the game so badly.” senior defensive lineman Cole Luedtke said. “It’s been a long time since we beat them and I think there is a lot of fire there.”

Senior quarterback Collin Fritton leads the team in passing yards, with 710 total yards. Senior running back Cal Newell leads the team in rushing with 583 total yards and nine touchdowns. Senior wide receiver Jack Baptista leads the team in receiving yards with 418 yards.

Southeast is 3-2 on the season so far and is ranked 10 in the state by MaxPreps. Southwest is ranked 15. In Southwest’s last game against Omaha Bryan, the offense had 13 completions for 191 yards and 24 rushing carries for 151 yards.

“I’m very confident. We worked together well last week,” Luedtke said. “As long as we work together well this week and have good team chemistry, I think we can come out with the win.”

The theme for the game is “strictly business.”

“The student sections have been awesome this year. Lots of people have been showing up and sticking to the theme,” Newell said. “Showing up and being loud is what we want, especially going into this game.”
