The Lincoln Southwest boys varsity basketball team will hit the roads on Saturday, Feb. 8 to face off against the top 5 ranked Omaha Westside Warriors at Omaha Westside High School, with tip off at 5:15 p.m.

The Silver Hawks will be attempting to continue the successes the team had against Omaha Burke in a win on Tuesday, Feb 4. In addition, with several days in between games, the team has had plenty of time to prepare for the Warriors.

“We played a pretty good game Tuesday [against Omaha Burke],” said freshman guard, Rylan Smith. “We had a really good practice Thursday and Friday, so I think that has prepared us well for Westside.”

One of the preparations for LSW will be guarding the Warriors starting point guard, senior Jadin Booth. Booth is a University of Nebraska Omaha basketball commit who is averaging 20 points per game for the Warriors this season.

“I think a key for us will be making sure we are talking and having whoever is guarding him [Jadin Booth] help,” said sophomore guard, Jared Bohrer. “I think also we played good defense on Tuesday [against Omaha Burke] so we just need to keep that going.”

Westside will be also be coming off a win prior to facing the Silver Hawks. The Warriors beat another top 5 ranked team, Omaha South, in a close game where Westside pulled away in overtime to win 82-76.
