Southwest’s varsity football team is preparing to compete against rival Lincoln Southeast at 8:00 p.m at Seacrest Field.

“I’m excited for [the game], I can hardly wait,” senior Jaden Wheeler said. “Last year we lost to Southeast and we should have won. We want that win.”

The Knights are coming off a tough loss against the defending Class A State Champion, Omaha Burke. Burke made a second half comeback featuring a late field goal clinching the win for the Bulldogs.

The Hawks are looking to build off a 29 – 0 win from last week against North Star. The win featured a strong second half where LSW pulled away after a 9 – 0 lead at half time.

“We’ve had a great week of practice and we cleaned up a lot of our mistakes from last Friday,” head coach Andrew Sherman said. “We try to make this game just like any other week because in the long run, in reality, it’s not bigger than any other week.”

The student theme for the game is beach/hawaiian and Southwest fans will be sitting on the home side cheering the Hawks on as they take on the rival Knights.
