Future Hawk Night will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 11 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lincoln Southwest High School.

At Future Hawk Night, future students will learn how to navigate high school and familiarize themselves with it.

“Students will be able to learn a bit about their future experience and can hear from their future principal,” school counselor Anders Peterson said. “They will also learn about all the clubs offered here at our school.”

Current eighth-graders will see a performance from the cheer team and then hear from principal John Matzen. They can learn about the sports offered through Southwest in the gym and then move out into the commons to hear from representatives of each club. After, future students can tour the school and ask current students any questions.

“I’m really happy I went to Future Hawk Night (when I was an eighth-grader),” junior Tea Wilson said. “I got to see loads of clubs and it’s how I learned more about the theater program which I ended up joining.”

Future students are not required to attend but it is highly recommended. If current eighth-graders aren’t able to attend they can contact one of the counselors to learn about what they missed. Each counselor’s information can be found on the counseling center website
