Swinging with the Silver Hawks
September 25, 2018
The first jazz band concert of the year will be held at Lincoln Southwest on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 7:00 pm. Instead of being held in the auditorium the concert will be taking place in the commons area due to play practice for LSW’s play, “Frankenstein.”
“Normally we’re in the auditorium,” Alyssa Wilhelm, the jazz band teacher, said. “I like the commons because its more close. It’s a more intimate environment.”
Prep Jazz Band will be playing 1940’s swing music and Latin charts. Jazz 1 will be doing four songs with an uptempo beat. The concert will also be featuring four different soloists.
“It’ll be a good variety of music,” said Wilhelm. “We are in a really good place, especially for first quarter, Mrs.[Megan Manning] Kechely has a lot of really good things happening in her class too.”
Admission to the concert is free for students, and parents.
